ARLO

Arlo fits the standard characteristics of a beagle: he is affectionate, social, cheerful, and would sell his soul for a treat. He loves human attention, and he is good with other dogs too.

At 8 years old, Arlo is no longer a youngster, but he's not geriatric either. He has bursts of energy and races through the house with his 3 foster brothers. But most of the time, he's content to rearrange his blankets and plop down in the middle of them, watching the goings on in the household. Outside, Arlo loves to sniff and explore, so he would appreciate having his own fenced back yard.

Although beagles are known for their baying, Arlo is not terribly noisy. He only barks when he has something important to say, like "someone's at the door and maybe they have food".

When not sniffing or eating, Arlo's favorite activity is to curl up next to his foster mom on the sofa and be petted. After his previous life spent outdoors in all kinds of weather, this great little companion deserves a new life in a comfortable home where he'll be loved and cherished. If you are looking for a very sweet, laid-back dog, Arlo is your guy.

Arlo has borderline Cushing's, which is currently kept under control with an inexpensive dietary supplement. His owner must be diligent in taking Arlo in for blood tests periodically to monitor him.

UPDATE APRIL: Arlo continues to delight his foster mom with his charm and easygoing nature. He has completely adapted to indoor living and has claimed the recliner as his own. He loves attention and wriggles his way to the front of the pack for ear scratches. Arlo insists he is not old, as shown by his ability to do a 2-mile walk with ease.
