PRINCE

Prince recently had a conversation with his foster mom on the way home from an adoption show.

Prince: Mom, am I an ugly duckling?

Foster Mom: No, Prince. You are a very handsome boy. When you first came to PAW, you didn.t look so good. You were half starved and dirty from being on your own for a long time, but now you are very beautiful and healthy.

Prince: Then why haven't I been adopted yet?

Foster Mom: It takes a special person to recognize your fine qualities: your sweetness, your loving nature, your laid-back attitude, that is until you spot a squirrel in your yard or when I call you to dinner. Then you get very excited and run like the wind. I guess some people may just be looking for younger dogs.

Prince: But I'm only 5 years old and I still have bursts of energy like a young pup and I like going for long walks.

Foster Mom: I know. And unlike a young pup, you are a perfect gentleman in the house and you don't chew on anything inappropriate. You are also good with kids and other dogs.

Prince: And I heard you say I'm "low maintenance" because I'm quiet and just like to sit by the window to keep an eye on my yard and protect everyone from those sneaky squirrels. And I know when it's my bedtime and I go straight to my dog bed at night.

Foster Mom: Yes, Prince, you are very well-behaved, and have many wonderful qualities. We just have to wait for the right family to come along.

Prince: Well I've been going to these shows for a long time. I sure hope the right family is looking for me and finds me soon.

Foster Mom: I do too, Prince. They will be a very lucky family indeed.
