A citizen found TESS stray. He searched the area for anyone missing their beloved mature pet and found no sign that they were looking for her. He kept TESS for a while and eventually decided he could no longer care for her and so he turned her in to the local shelter. The overwhelmed shelter staff somehow overlooked TESS in their daily care of the dogs and cats there. TESS lost and forgotten soon lapsed into a depressed state and was not given the proper medical care she needed. When volunteers noticed her ill health they got PAW to take her. TESS had pneumonia at that point and was broken and depressed. After several weeks of intense care, the staff at our vet's office has nursed her back and she is gaining her strength and will to live.
TESS is judged to be about nine years old. She has a heart murmur that does not require medicine. The cardiologist thinks that the pneumonia caused infection around her heart that intensified her symptoms that had prompted her to be referred there. She is currently on a rigorous course of antibiotics to be sure to knock out the remaining infection and will be getting a recheck of her heart in a few weeks just to be cautious. Other than that, TESS also has some arthritis in her back and should be on a simple over-the-counter glucosamine product to help keep her limber.
TESS is a girl of simple needs. She is looking for a loving home where someone is seeking a quiet companion. She loves to be pet, to ride in the car and to contemplate her surroundings. TESS is housebroken, is uninterested in cats and is fine with other dogs that would give her her space and would enjoy someone to co-exist with peaceably. She will make someone a true blue friend.
