PAW's Other Adoptable Animals
Welcome to PAW's Other Adoptable Animals Home Page!
FEBRUARY IS ADOPT-A-RABBIT MONTH!
PAW is celebrating February as Adopt-a-Rescued- Rabbit Month. Each year thousands of bunnies are relinquished to shelters and rescue organizations when their owners decide they no longer want them. Rabbits make excellent companions. They can live eight to ten years and bond closely to their adopters. Quiet but inquisitive, rabbits can also be trained to use a litter box.

Notes on rabbits:
- PAW rabbits are to be adopted as houserabbits only, and must
live in the house with the family.
- Gentle children and good bunnies can get along fine. However
because rabbits are fragile creatures (who may bite when
terrified) and baby humans don't yet know their own strength,
special care should be taken when choosing a rabbit for a family with
children. The rule of thumb is "the smaller the child, the larger
and gentler the rabbit". Also the rabbit should be the family's
pet, and adults should expect to take full responsibility for
the rabbit's care. Please check out the House Rabbit Society's
information on
children and rabbits.
- For more information on pet
rabbits and rabbit adoption, please contact your local chapter of the
House Rabbit Society.
- We can do adoptions only within one to two hours of the MD/DC/VA
metropolitan area.
