Eric “Rick” Michael Chaiet, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at the age of 54. He is survived by his devoted parents, Melvin and Anna Chaiet and Joyce and Steve Solomon; loving siblings; Wendy (Wayne) Kivitz, John (Sam) Pearce, Lisa (Todd) Mohink, Sara Solomon (Jacquie Smyth) and beloved nephews, Zak Kivitz, Griffin Kivitz, Max Pearce, Calvin Pearce and Smudge, Rick’s lovable rescue dog. Rick was a kind and affectionate man, loved by all who knew him, humans and pets alike. He will be missed by all.
Rick joined PAW in 2017 and was thrilled to become part of the PAW family. You may remember him as the gentle, kind man who seemed to attend almost every dog adoption show and who generously showered PAW pups with his affection. After adopting PAW dog Smudge, he regaled fellow PAW volunteers with countless stories about Smudge’s activities and routines.
Several PAW volunteers attended Rick’s funeral. At the service, members of his family emphasized how important the PAW community had been to Rick, and how much his PAW volunteer had work meant to him. In fact, the family has asked that contributions in his memory be donated to PAW.
We will miss Rick greatly, and we wish his family our most sincere condolences. May his memory be a blessing.
The family of Eric Chaiet will be notified of your donation. If you wish to also include a personal message it will be passed along to the family.
